4A Games and Deep Silver have released the Renegade gameplay trailer for METRO 2039. The new footage gives a closer look at the Stranger, the hostile world above and below Moscow, and Sevastopolskaya Station - a refuge that is also caught in the grip of Hunter’s authoritarian regime.

A station under propaganda and fear

The trailer’s key location is Sevastopolskaya Station. It is a shelter from irradiated Moscow, but it is not a safe place in any simple sense. The station sits under the propaganda and control of Hunter’s Novoreich regime, which claims to have united the survivors while preparing for another war on the surface.

The Stranger enters this pressure cooker while pursuing a target that has not yet been fully revealed. The official description says he will uncover crucial information at Sevastopolskaya and prepare for the dangerous journey ahead, keeping the story’s central pursuit deliberately unresolved.

More than tunnel combat

The Renegade trailer expands the gameplay view across both the underground and the surface. It shows weaponry, first-person combat, survival pressure, and stealth in a world built around exploration rather than a single style of play. That is familiar territory for Metro, but 4A Games is framing METRO 2039 as a new single-player story with an original narrative written in collaboration with series author Dmitry Glukhovsky.
