Gears of War: E-Day has a new World Premiere trailer from gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The prequel brings Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago back to the earliest hours of Emergence Day—the Locust Horde’s first attack on Sera—and gives the upcoming shooter another focused look before launch.

Back to Emergence Day
The game is set 14 years before the original Gears of War, when Marcus and Dom are home as the Locust Horde erupts from beneath the planet. That setting is the reason the trailer matters: this is not another continuation after the original trilogy, but an origin story built around the day the war begins.
The official footage leans into the series’ older visual language—massive destruction, close-quarters pressure, and the sense that Sera is being overwhelmed all at once. It is a good fit for a story about characters who know how to fight, but have not yet faced anything like the Locust invasion.
